2014 CGSA Conference: Engaging Communities

The 5th Annual Communication Graduate Student Association Conference will be held Friday, Feb. 28, 2014 at Purdue University. The conference will feature recent communication research, teaching ideas, a keynote speech from an area scholar, professional development, and more. This site provides basic information about the conference, including locations, registration, schedules and more.

Conference theme: Engaging Communities: Communicative Approaches and Applications

Date: Friday, Feb. 28, 2014

Location: RAWL 2070. Rawls Hall is located at 100 S. Grant St. in West Lafayette, across from the University Book Store.

Leanne KnoblochKeynote (2:30-3:20 p.m.): This year’s keynote address will be delivered by Dr. Leanne Knobloch, who is an associate professor in the Department of Communication at the University of Illinois. Knobloch earned her PhD from the University of Wisconsin at Madison in 2002. Her research areas are interpersonal and health communication. More specifically, her recent work focuses on (1) military spouses across the deployment cycle and (2) romantic couples dealing with a depression diagnosis. Find out more about her research here.

Registration: Attendees are encouraged to preregister for the conference by visiting https://purdue.qualtrics.com/SE/?SID=SV_2tQnjeDm9vz0kGp. Attendees who preregister will be entered into the conference drawing and be eligible for prizes including gift cards to Greyhouse Coffee and Brian Lamb School of Communication water bottles. Those who preregister by Feb. 26 will also be provided with a printed name tag at the event.

Costs: In lieu of a registration fee and to engage the Greater Lafayette community, conference attendees are asked to bring nonperishable food items to donate to Food Finders.

Post-conference social: Join us after the conference for FAC starting at 6 p.m. at Poblanos Mexican Grill (360 Brown Street, Levee Plaza, West Lafayette).
