Membership Spotlight – October
Sunday, October 10th, 2010Membership Spotlight is a new monthly feature designed to highlight CGSA members doing interesting things in our department and across the field of communication! This month, we are highlighting two new Members-At-Large on the CGSA Board: Lindsey Anderson and Danielle Davis.
To nominate someone (or yourself!) for November’s Membership Spotlight, email Louise (lareau[at]purdue[dot]edu) with the nominee’s name and why they should be in the spotlight. The two individuals with the greatest number of nominations will be selected. The nomination deadline is 11:59 pm on October 20th.
Lindsey Anderson
“My favorite thing about Purdue is definitely the people. All of the graduate
students have been so welcoming and friendly, which really helps to foster the
supportive atmosphere within the department. ”
Lindsey is a first-year doctoral student in Public Relations & Issue Management. Her research interests include crisis communication. After being elected to Member-At-Large, she reflected: “My primary goal as a Member-At-Large is to learn more about the CGSA so that I can be a contributing member to the group as well as an effective representative for the Ph.D. cohort.” In addition to representing her cohort on the CGSA Board, Lindsey will assist with planning the Purdue Graduate Student Conference on Communication Research.
Danielle Davis
“The faculty in the Communication Department have been incredibly welcoming to the new students. They are always around to offer encouragement. “
Danielle joins our department from Penn State University. She is a first-year master’s student in Health Communication. She will represent her master’s cohort on the CGSA Board as a Member-At-Large: “I look forward to taking on an active role in the CGSA and contributing to the graduate student community at large!”
